How to Reheat Your Favorite Leftovers

We’ve all been there – at our favorite place, and absolutely full to the brim, but there’s still just enough left on our plate. Well, we must take it home (with good intentions of course)! But reheating those leftovers usually leaves us wanting.

The reality is, it will likely never taste like it just came out of the kitchen, but here are a few tips to reheat your leftovers in ways to ensure you get the most out of them.

Burgers: Store burgers disassembled in your t0-go box. Always separate the burger patty from the bun and condiments before reheating. Let the patty come to room temp if you have time. Preheat the oven to 275. Put them in a baking dish and cover. Leave until heated through. If you desire a little crunch on your burger, uncover and broil for 2-3 minutes on each side. Be careful! You could ruin them at the last minute!

If you’re in a hurry, place the patty on a microwave safe plate and microwave at half power for intervals of 30 seconds until warmed.

When reassembling, scrape leftover condiments off of the bun and refresh with condiments from your refrigerator.

Pizza: Heat a foil-lined cookie sheet at 450 until hot. Arrange slices on the sheet and heat 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly.

If you’re in a hurry, fill a small glass cup halfway with water and place it in the microwave. Put the slice on a microwave safe plate and heat for 30-45 seconds. The crust won’t be crispy, but the water keeps it from becoming too chewy.

Seafood: Place fish, shrimp or crawfish on a foil lined baking sheet and heat at 450 until crispy, turning halfway through.

You can’t be in a hurry with this one! No microwaves!

Pasta: Place pasta in a microwave safe bowl or plate. Create a small “well” in the center of the pasta. Cover with a paper towel and microwave at half power in intervals of 30 seconds until heated through.

Mexican: Anything with a soft tortilla shell can be reheated easily in the microwave. Cut it half and it will heat more quickly and evenly. If you have hard shell tacos, or nachos, try to save what you can of the toppings and plan on replacing the shell or chips. If you keep it all intact, you will definitely be disappointed!
